Short Story: The Angels

هذه أول محاولة لي لكتابة قصة قصيرة باللغة الإنجليزية، أرجو أن تنال إعجابكم، وبالطبع سأسعد بتعليقاكم.

The Angels

The angels wondered as they watched God creating his new creature. They saw him create before, but this time they felt it was something special. Their eyes widened as they saw God shaping this creature by his hand, not by his word. God weaved in this creature what seemed to them as contradictory traits: faith and disbelief, knowledge and ignorance, and hope and despair. They argued a lot about the behavior of such creature for they couldn’t predict it.

Among them sat a Jinn with focused eyes and doubting face. He felt that he is witnessing something provoking. “Why did God add all these traits? Is he creating something like me? It can’t be, I am God’s miracle.” the Jinn said to himself.  He quickly silenced his thoughts, for he has remembered that God hears him.

The angels finally realized what the Jinn realized before them. So, they politely asked God: “Are you going to plant it in the earth? won’t it bring doom as the other free-will creatures?”.

God replied: “I know what you don’t know”.

The angel “Mekal” flew as the clouds rested on his huge wings to the destination he was given. As soon as he left his wings, the clouds started raining and delivering the essence of life to all the creatures below. Mekal rested for a while as he watched a group of children wearing yellow raincoats jumping in the puddles, playing and filling the earth with their laughs.

Mekal smiled: “You knew my lord ... you really knew what we didn’t know”.
